I made a choice not to blog this summer because regular travel and life events aren’t always that interesting but we have had quite a summer! Started out in June with a timeshare in Tahoe for a week and then another two day drive to Nelson Canada to visit Kathy Alexander and Paul Lindsey. They are our special friends who introduced Jerry and me over 20 years ago. So you might say this whole thing is their fault. Ha Ha. We were totally enthralled with Nelson. It is a lovely town and the views are magnificent!! It’s about 3-4 hours north of Spokane if that helps orient anyone. They were extremely gracious hosts, as long as you don’t mention the bridge scores. and we enjoyed our 4 day visit immensely. On the way back we stopped in Pocatello Idaho to have lunch with Ellen Hargis who left town a year or so ago after leaving the Volunteer Center. It was great to see her and her huge (I mean huge) home.
After arriving home we made the final preparations to leave our house and sell our possessions. This might sound simple to most of you, but it was “not so much” I took the pictures and photo albums over to our good friend Joann Schultz who has graciously agreed to keep the boxes under her stairwell. The rest of our “stuff” fits into about 6 suitcases and a small box. We may try to get down to 4 suitcases but not sure we can manage that. Meg, our daughter and her team, thanks a LOT, held an estate sale on the weekend of July 10th. We left town again on July 7th. She even told us we didn’t want to be around to watch people buy our things. Just an FYI, Meg brought in quite a bit of other people’s art so our house really wasn’t filled with all the folk art that you may have seen. Our kids took some of our stuff but everything else either sold or went to a charity on Monday morning. Our new renter moved into the house on that same Monday. We owe Meg big time for all her hard work getting everything that was left out of the house and ready for our renter the same day!!
This trip we went to another timeshare in Breckenridge Co after a quick stop in Evergreen to pick up our grandson Tate who is 5. He stayed with us for two nights and his parents picked him up on Sunday. We had a great time with him. He was mesmerized by the sports tv channels in our favorite Breckenridge restaurant We went back to Evergreen for a 3 day very fun visit with the whole family. Tyler, our son-in-law, is building a three story fort for the two grandsons in their back yard. It’s pretty impressive. Pictures of the fort and grandkids can be found at http://allbrittonfamily.blogspot.com.
We now are back in Tucson and staying at our good friends Sam and Judy Robison’s guest house. They seem to have a series of guests but fortunately for us we timed it right to stay here until August 14th when we leave for Turkey. They were on Mt Lemon when we arrived and left the door open for us but somehow, today, July 27th, we left in the morning and one of us,you can guess who, accidentally locked the door so we we had to figure out plan B for the day. Worked out fine.
Now we have a series of lunches and dinners with friends who we will miss a great deal. This big adventure of ours is actually getting ready to happen. It’s been in the planning stages in one form or another for over a year. We don’t know a great deal, almost nothing, about what the next few months will bring but we’re excited and ready to face whatever experiences life tosses at us. We will try to keep posting on our blog as much as possible and keep those of you who want to know what’s going on up to date. We welcome comments on the blog or by e-mail.
