Ok, I promise this is the last ruins I will put pictures of on the blog.  We’ve heard others rave about these ruins and we couldn’t agree more.  It’s described as the the most fascinating city of the ancient world.  Looking down the street at all the tourists it didn’t take much imagination to believe that it was Romans walking along among the pillars and shops.  Well, maybe a little imagination, but it was still amazing.  The picture of the guy sitting down is Con (Jon) our guide on a Roman toilet.  I believe the restoration of these ruins was done by German archeologists.  Not only do I have a better appreciation of teachers after our year in Turkey but also archeologists.  I would never have the patience to figure out all the pieces of a gigantic puzzle.    We also visited the house of the Virgin Mary where she was suppose to have stayed during her later years.  Whether she lived there or not the place was beautiful and serene and was a nice ending to a busy day.

History is all more real now even though we studied it so long ago.  People did some amazing things and in many ways they tried to do many of the things we are trying to do today.  Eat, drink, and  be merry.
